Caroline and David from Hitchin wanted to make Wills to protect each other, and to make sure their young children would be well looked after if something happened to them both. They knew about appointing guardians to look after the boys on a day to day basis, but they weren’t sure of factors to consider when choosing guardians, and they wanted to know what would happen to the children’s money.
We were able to explain that as well as Guardians, Trustees would need to be appointed to invest the boys’ money until the age of inheritance that they specified in their Wills. Trustees would be able to give money to the Guardians for the children’s day to day upbringing, but money could also be advanced for anything that was deemed to be for the boys’ maintenance, benefit or education.
Caroline and David were very grateful to receive our advice, and now have peace of mind – knowing that if anything happened to them, their children would be well looked after – both physically and financially.
