In line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we, at A R K Lasting Powers & Wills have updated our Privacy Notice as follows:

Who we are

At A R K Lasting Powers & Wills we are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of all our customers and anyone using our website, and also the confidentiality of any information that you provide us with. The purpose of this statement is to set out how we use any personal information that we may obtain from you and how we keep it secure.

Types of data we collect

Cookies – Many websites place cookies, which are small data files, on your computer or handheld device. While this is standard practice for most websites, we do not use cookies on our website.

Google Analytics – When someone visits http://www.arkpowers.com we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard Internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

E-Newsletters – As a customer with A R K Lasting Powers & Wills you have the option to sign up for our e-newsletter which we send out around twice a year. We use your first name and email address only for this. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

We use MailChimp, a third-party provider, to deliver our e-newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our Data Protection Officer, Jo Baldwin, at info@arkpowers.com.

We make hand-written notes at appointments, and any paper records we keep which contain personal information regarding our customers will be held securely in a locked cabinet.

Who we share data with and why

We will never share your personal data, other than to enable us to provide our service to you. We will never share your data with any other categories of organisation without your permission unless:

  • We are legally requested to do so by the authorities or other legal professionals.
  • We wish to enforce or apply our Terms of Use or to protect our rights, property, safety, customers or others.

Retention Period

The information you supply to A R K Lasting Powers & Wills to enable us to prepare your documents is stored on our database to enable amendments to your Wills/Lasting Powers of Attorney to be made. This information will be stored on the fully encrypted and secure system unless you advise our Data Protection Officer, Jo Baldwin, at info@arkpowers.com that you wish this information to be deleted from our database. If you ask for your information to be deleted from our database you may incur additional fees if you require amendments to your documents at a later date (this is because we will have to draft everything from scratch at that time).

We will keep paper records relating to information gathered at appointments or during follow up correspondence for periods specified by law, and we will keep this information securely for the period that we have to keep it.

Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend or delete the personal information that we hold. To do so please email your request to our Data Protection Officer, Jo Baldwin, at info@arkpowers.com We will process your request within 30 days, by email.
