Supporting The Community

A.R.K Lasting Powers & Wills – proud to be supporting the local community

At A.R.K we are very proud of being a local company based in Stevenage, and we are keen to support our local community. We aim to do that in a number of ways; the most important one being to try to support some local charities which do great work for people needing help in the local area.

At A.R.K we are currently supporting 5 charities –

Garden House Hospice Care

Working across the communities of North Hertfordshire, Stevenage and surrounding towns and villages in Central Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, Garden House Hospice Care supports personalised and compassionate palliative end of life care for those in need following a diagnosis of a life limiting illness. Supporting a community of over 230,000 people.

We are pleased to be able to support the hospice with their important work in a variety of ways – we take part in their annual Make a Will month, which involves us preparing Wills for people in return for a donation to this amazing charity. We carry out this work for free to contribute our services and help raise money for just one of the fund-raising events that the hospice run.

Stevenage Community Trust

A.R.K is a proud member of Stevenage Community Trust. Established in 1990, Stevenage Community Trust is an independent charity, which provides funding and support to charitable organisations and individuals in need.

Members of the Trust pay an annual membership fee and offer practical help and financial assistance so that the charity can continue to offer its valuable contribution to the community.

Their work makes a significant difference to local people’s lives and is only possible thanks to their loyal supporters. To find out more about their work please click here.

Angels Support, Hitchin & Stevenage

Angels Support Group was formed in response to families in the community who were in desperate need of support for themselves and their children. All of their volunteers have children with either ADHD or an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). They are committed to providing a resource that people will find both useful and accessible, making it available to as many families as possible. Their mission statement stresses that as a charity they are inclusive, non-judgemental and caring.

Raising a child diagnosed with ADHD and/or ASD can be very challenging to any parent or carer without the right support. Angels aim is to help to empower parents and carers and encourage them to feel confident in supporting their child, both educationally and in the home environment.

At A.R.K we are looking at ways of supporting the work Angels do, by offering free advice to parents they are helping. We also attend support group meetings in Stevenage and Hitchin – talking to parents regarding their own Wills and their children’s needs. A percentage of our fees from any related referrals will go to Angels Support. To find out more about Angels please click here.

Home-Start – Stevenage

Home-Start offers a range of support to families in the local area who are struggling with the demands and challenges of being a parent. Home-Start helps those parents that need extra support during the early years as children grow up. Home-Start wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.

A.R.K has worked with Home-Start since 2016 and supported them by contributing to their newsletters and offering free advice to parents. Plus, a percentage of our fees for referrals from Home-Start go straight back to the charity. Click here to find out more about the important work they do.

East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity

East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, supports patients staff and visitors across four hospitals – the Lister in Stevenage, the new QEII in Welwyn Garden City, Hertford County Hospital in Hertford and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) in Northwood, North London.

The Charity funds extra equipment, facilities, research and staff development which complement services provided by the NHS, helping the Trust to reach its objective of being among the best healthcare providers in the country.

We love to support this wonderful charity where we can. Annual support includes participating in Make a Will Week – during this week we prepare Wills free of charge. The clients then make a donation for our services to the hospital charity. We are proud to be able to contribute to charity funds in this way.
